Thank You

The school district's $3.8 million referendum on the November 8, 2022 ballot was approved. Delavan-Darien School District Superintendent Dr. Jill Sorbie and the school board express their appreciation to the voters for their support of the students, staff and community. With the passing of this referendum, we will continue to address our community's priorities for its schools.

It is never easy to ask for additional money from the community, yet this is what the state legislatures share as the solution. With the stagnant funding from the state government in the 2021-2023 biennial budget, Districts across Wisconsin are facing a fiscal cliff. Hence why eighty-eight school referendums were on the Wisconsin November ballots for communities to support their educational institutes. Delavan-Darien is fiscally responsible by reducing costs and evaluating the costs in all areas, yet does not receive enough funding to continue with its current staffing and costs.  Without additional funding, it is impossible for the Delavan-Darien School District to remain competitive in their compensation plan for its staff let alone continue to offer the programs and class sizes that are best for students.

“The willingness of generations of residents to sacrifice their hard-earned dollars for the benefit of our youth is what makes Delavan-Darien such a tremendous place to live," Sorbie said. "We are so grateful for the community’s partnership and for showing up and supporting our district at the polls.”

Thank you for your continued support of the District and community. We hope that everyone sees this referendum for what it is - an investment into the community, its children, and the future.
