We’re proud to share some exciting news! Delavan-Darien High School and the Delavan-Darien Technical School have been recognized with the 2024 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award —the only school district in Wisconsin to receive this prestigious honor!
Governor Tony Evers presented the award at the State Capitol on April 29, recognizing our district’s outstanding efforts to elevate financial literacy, capability, and inclusion for Wisconsin students.
Representing our schools at the ceremony were:
Hannah Becke – DDHS Business Teacher, FBLA Advisor, and Adjunct Professor at Gateway Technical College
Jodi Scott – DDHS Business Education Teacher and Adjunct Professor at Gateway Technical College
Michael Rick – DD Tech Administrator and Career & Technical Education / ACP Coordinator
At DDHS and DD Tech, we’ve taken innovative steps to prepare our students for financial success—through interactive tools like EVERFI and Next Gen Personal Finance, hands-on experiences like the Reality Fair, and scholarship opportunities tied to personal finance education. In the 2023–24 school year alone, 155 students passed our personal finance course, which was already a district requirement before Wisconsin Act 60 made it a state mandate.
We also want to give a special thank you to Blackhawk Community Credit Union and Victor Frasher from Educators Credit Union, recognized in the Organization and Legacy categories, respectively. Their partnership continues to help prepare our students to be career, community, and life ready.
This honor is a testament to the dedication of our educators and the strength of our community partnerships. Thank you for continuing to support our mission of empowering every student for lifelong success.
