We are celebrating “Read Across America” this week. On Monday, two international authors, Jorge Inzunza, from Chile, and Nestor Paz, from El Salvador, came to Darien School to give presentations. One was delivered in English and one was delivered in Spanish. During the English presentation, author Nestor Paz, read from his upcoming book, Sacred Cenote, filled with rich imagery, and had the students identify the components of the text.The students were actively engaged in the presentation. During the Spanish presentation, author Mr. Inzunza read a section from his book, La Mina Maldita. Students also identified the rich setting of the book that intertwines with the development of the characters.
Both authors then added a star to the Darien America’s map indicating the place, the setting of their book as well as the origin of the authors.
